Upcoming conferences

I am involved in a couple of upcoming conferences and workshops that I want to share information about.

Escar 2010 is a premiere event targeting embedded security in cars. You can submit papers until 27.06.2010.

The deadline for Globecom 2010 has already passed, but you might want to consider participation. I want to especially recommend the Ad hoc and Sensor Networks Symposium.

New job at University of Twente in the Netherlands

Effective from January, I have started my new job as Assoc. Prof. in the Distributed and Embedded Security (DIES) research group at University of Twente in the Netherlands. Please note my new contact details.

iCTF Contest: Ulm Security Sparrows in Top Ten!

On Friday, 4.12.2009, the Ulm Security Sparrows (USS) team participated in the 2009 edition of the "International Capture The Flag" competition (iCTF 2009). More than 800 students from all over the world grouped up in 56 teams to demonstrate their skills in practical security. On Saturday, 2 am (CET), the contest was over. This year's winner was the cInsects team from Hamburg University. We were also happy ranking 10th out of 51 which is quite an achievement considering the tough competition.

CAST Security Award for Bastian Könings

Last week, Bastian Könings received the annual CAST e.V. price for the best diploma/master thesis on security. He received the price for his thesis on the security of the PHY and MAC layer of IEEE 802.11 that I had the pleasure to supervise. You can find details on the results in our IEEE LCN 2009 publication.
